MKI Rok Kano

(aka.. Jack)

For Sale:  $600.00

This is an awful picture but here he is at 4 yr. old.  This pic was taken 6/22/2008.

He's well over 15 hands and still a sweetheart.  Loves to have a face rub and a belly scratch.  Very easy to work with and a very easy keeper.

These  pictures taken 1/15/2007.

Chronologically Kano is 2 years and 9 months though according to most people he's 3 since it's past the first of the year.

My 11 year old son is holding him - Ian is 57 inches tall.

We had a lot of sleet fall during the recent winter storm - enough that is was packed hard with ice and we were all (including Kano) standing on top of it all.  Poor Ian - it was 22 degrees outside and still a bit windy but he did his best to help me take these pictures.

Registered 2004 Gelding (4/28/2004)

15 hands and 1100 pounds.

Dam: Rayna - grade Belgian/QH cross

Sire: B/W Overo Paint (King Obsidian)

Kano (aka. Jack) has the usual Draft horse temperament - calm - anything goes.  He can be a little pushy around feeding time if you don't remind him of his manners but he's a very sweet horse.  Easy to catch, stands tied, stands for the farrier, groom him all day and he'll be your friend - feed him and he's in your pocket.  When he gets bored he likes to play with the feed pans which makes us spend time at the next feeding trying to find them.

He stands at about 15 hands right now though he is a little butt high - he's still growing.  The round pen panels are 5 foot tall.

His mother is 14.1 hands (see her below and on the link to her new home) and his dad is a 15.2 hand Black/White Overo.

He is black with 2 white socks - both on his back feet.  He definitely shows the draft influence in his blood.

Jack was gelded March  2005 - at 11 months old - the gelding was text book - absolutely no problems and he recovered quickly with no complications.

This video was taken 2/5/2006 - it is a LARGE video - if you have a dial up Internet connection please email for smaller file size.

Kano Video

It took a bit of work to get this video so he's a bit tired in it.  It seems that anytime I put the camera up to take the video he decided to stop so I had numerous shorter videos that didn't work out.

Mr. Smarty Pants!

Yep - he's still in his Winter Woolies!!!

It's official - Jack has been registered with the IGHA.

Below are a couple of pics I took on December 29th, 2004 (he's 8 months old here).  He's going like a weed. And very sweet, and.... well feed too!

In the above picture, Jack is right next to his mom (Rayna - the sorrel) and then behind them is Strider (on the right) who is an 18 month old 1/2 Arabian Gelding. Jack's gonna get taller then his mom!

He's 8 months old in this picture and that halter he's wearing is a 800 - 1100 pound adult horse halter.

Check out his Mom's page at her new home.

Sometime during the middle of the summer, my son and I finally came up with a name for this "little" boy - Kano. However, he is also known as Jack. For obvious reasons - he can be a little like a jack......! Well, you know what I mean.

At 7 months of age he is only lacking about 3 inches of his mom's height so he's gonna be a big boy! He's already as tall as my yearling Arab crosses (Ayashe and Strider). He has retained an excellent personality. He loves to be petted and get attention (just like his mom). And will approach just about anything that gets his interest. I have had the cats up on his back - and the only thing he really objected to was the claws they used when he moved. I've been going all sort of things to him to sack him out - even to the point of putting my coat over his head.

Update....(11 PM 4/28/04) The vet finally made it out at 7 Pm this evening, but has pronounced Mom and Son healthy and happy. He's been nursing, peeing and pooping (who knows I would have ever been so excited by that prospect (GRIN)).

I spent all this afternoon and evening watching, enjoying and rubbing on all my equines, but most especially with Rayna and the baby. I'm gonna get chewed by my doctor for getting a sunburn today but it is well worth it (it's only a minor one).

The baby is very curious and will even walk away from Mom. It is funny to see him start off in a direction only to have Mom walk a little faster and steer him back. Rayna is very protective over him and is very diligent in keeping an eye on him.

She's allowed just about all of us Humans to come up and pet him - but only if you stop and get approval (to be bribed by providing her with a scratch or a rub). And he has even allowed us to pet/rub on him.

(posted Noon 4/28/04) I have been pretty busy and not posted pics of Rayna since she came at the end of March. But as you will see - Rayna gave birth last night. She snuck this little boy past Heidi during the night last night. Rayna wasn't giving any of the classic signs of impending birth when Heidi checked her at 9 or 10 PM - but there he was this morning!

Thank you Heidi for all these pics.

This isn't going to be my best job at posting pics so please bear with me on this page - I'll clean it up when I get over the shock.
